Well, I've been tagged by Lora Banks from The Coach Approach for the "Five Things You Don't Know About Me" meme.
So here goes:
1. A number of years ago I fainted in front of a couple thousand people on day 59 of a 63 day speaking tour of South Africa. I got a standing ovation when I got up. Fainting is now a strategy if things don't seem to be going well during a speech.
2. Please buy as many copies of the CD Philly Street Sounds as you can afford. My group, the Dukes of Doo-Wop, sang together on stage and in the studio for many years and is featured on the CD. 900,000 more copies sold and I can buy a new sharkskin suit.
3. I am a card-carrying member of the Saudi Arabian social security system-- the result of living there during a 2-year leadership development/organizational consulting gig. I've thought about when I can collect but wonder if the Homeland Security siren will go off during my next trip through passport control.
4. I became interested in organizations and human behavior as a result of being a drill sergeant in the Army.
5. My consulting practice will celebrate its 30th anniversary in March of this year. It was started with a $5,000 loan sealed by a handshake with the president of our local bank. He wrote a check from a checkbook in his desk drawer. I signed no papers until I received them in the mail a week or so after the check was cashed. His trust enabled me to have the career I wanted.
So. I think I'll tag Valeria Maltoni at Conversation Agent. (I'm going to tag four more but am headed out the door to a client who will give me "five reasons he won't pay if I don't show up.").

Hello Steve:
Thank you. I was tagged at the very beginning of the meme. Here's the link to my response http://conversationagent.typepad.com/conversation_agent/2006/12/it_all_started_.html
