Vacations are good.
After a relaxing week at the lake and some great in-law hospitality, I guess it's time to do something labeled "productive".
Personally, I found vacationing to be quite productive, especially with a total lack of cellular service. It produced face-to-face conversations with actual human beings; I'm recommending it.
And how about the guest writers here? Becky Robinson, Erik Rebstock, Frode Heimen, and Wally Bock jumped in and kept the conversation rolling with their respective posts. Deepest thanks to each.
Oh, I did learn two things while relaxing:
a, My noise-canceling ear buds work exceedingly well.
b. Barb does not think that Toby Keith and I do a great duet on "Who's Your Daddy?"
Note to newly- or- not-yet-married guys: If you think that Barb is smiling that would be an incorrect, although understandable, observation. This is a well-honed "post-marital pre-gesture" which, when combined with the pointing finger, makes it seem to others that she thinks I'm the life of the party while signaling to me that I am in the process of defaming the family name and have about 10 seconds to stop.
I made it in six.

Steve - the guest bloggers were a great idea and a success, but welcome back. And that look - I had no misapprehensions about it; my wife is practiced with it.

Hi, Jim, and thanks for noticing the return.
It's always comforting to be understood as well...perhaps there's a niche market out there for a collaborative book: "Marital Non-verbals For Survival".
